Photoclarus privacy policy
This policy explains what information the Photoclarus app ("the App") accesses, collects, uses and shares, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. It applies to the App as distributed on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Please read it together with the Terms of Use shown inside the App under Account → Terms, Legal and Support.

1. Summary
- Photoclarus is a product-photography tool. It takes photos, edits them on your device and, only when you choose, uploads the product listing to an online store you have connected.
- The App has no user accounts, no analytics or advertising SDKs, no crash reporting and no tracking. We do not profile you.
- Photos, product details, store credentials and settings are stored only on your device. WIOTLY does not receive them, with one exception: if you connect the Custom / PIM destination, publishing sends the product listing to a WIOTLY-operated service that forwards it to your own system.
- Background removal runs on your device using Google ML Kit. The segmentation model is downloaded from Google Play services; your photos are not sent to Google for processing.
- You can delete everything at any time from inside the App or by uninstalling it.
2. Information the App collects and how it is used
2.1 Photos and camera data
| What | Source | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product photos you take with the in-app camera | Camera | To create and edit the product listing | Stored in the App's private storage on your device |
| Photos you import | Your photo library, via the system picker, one image at a time | Same as above | Same as above |
| Edited renders (background removed, colour-corrected) | Generated on-device from your photos | Preview, saved drafts and store uploads | Same as above |
| Light-level readings from the live preview | Camera frames, analysed in memory | To show the Poor / OK / Good light indicator | Not stored, not transmitted |
| Device tilt | Accelerometer | To show the optional spirit level in the viewfinder | Not stored, not transmitted |
| Barcode value | Camera, scanned on-device | To fill the SKU field when you ask for it | Stored with the product details on your device |
The App does not record video or audio. The microphone is never used.
2.2 Product details
Title, price, stock quantity, description, SKU, product type and the library folder you file a shoot under. You enter these yourself. They are stored on your device and are included in a listing only when you publish it.
2.3 Store connection credentials
To publish, you may connect one or more destinations:
- Adobe Commerce / Magento: store URL, store view code, attribute set ID and an Integration access token.
- WooCommerce: site URL, REST API consumer key and secret, and optionally a WordPress username and application password for photo uploads.
- Custom / PIM: a Client ID and access token issued to you by WIOTLY support.
These credentials are stored only on your device, in the App's private storage, and are sent only to the store or service they belong to, over HTTPS, as part of the requests needed to verify the connection and publish listings. WIOTLY does not receive or store your Adobe Commerce or WooCommerce credentials.
2.4 Settings and preferences
Camera angles, viewport ratio, spirit-level switch, output size, JPEG quality, auto-fix default, default publishing destination, saved colour presets and whether you have seen the intro. Stored on your device only.
2.5 Information we do not collect
The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise or approximate location, device identifiers, advertising ID, usage statistics, crash logs or diagnostics. There is no sign-in and no WIOTLY account.
3. Information shared with third parties
The App shares data only in the situations below, and only when you trigger them.
3.1 Your connected store
When you turn on Upload to store and publish, the App sends the product details and the edited photos of that shoot to the store you selected (Adobe Commerce / Magento or WooCommerce), using the credentials you entered. That store's operator and its own privacy policy then govern the data. Publishing is never automatic; a listing leaves your device only when you tap the publish button.
3.2 WIOTLY Custom / PIM integration service
If you connect the Custom / PIM destination, publishing sends the same product details and photos to a service operated by WIOTLY OÜ (photoclarus.api-prod.wiotly.com), together with your Client ID and access token, so that the listing can be delivered to the system you agreed with WIOTLY support. WIOTLY processes this data as a processor on your behalf, stores it only as long as needed to deliver it and to provide support for the integration, and does not use it for any other purpose. The terms of each custom integration are agreed with you separately.
3.3 Google Play services (ML Kit)
Background removal uses Google ML Kit Subject Segmentation, delivered through Google Play services on Android. The first time it is needed, the device downloads the segmentation model from Google. Your photos are processed on the device and are not uploaded to Google by this feature. Google's handling of the model download and of Google Play services is described in Google's privacy policy and the ML Kit terms.
3.4 Operating system services
The system camera, photo picker, file system and keyboard are provided by Android or iOS. Their behaviour is governed by the platform's privacy policy. The App only requests the permissions listed in section 5.
3.5 No sale of data
WIOTLY does not sell, rent or trade any personal data, and does not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Data retention and deletion
- On your device: photos, renders, product details, folders, presets, settings and store credentials remain in the App's private storage until you delete them. You can delete an individual shoot from the Library (which removes its photos and renders), disconnect a store from Account → Connected stores (which removes its credentials), and delete a folder. Uninstalling the App removes all of its data from the device.
- In your store: listings you have published stay in your store under that store's own retention rules. Deleting a shoot in the App does not delete the product from your store.
- At WIOTLY: for the Custom / PIM integration, delivered listings are retained only as long as needed to forward them and to support the integration. To ask for deletion of data held by that service, contact support@wiotly.com with your Client ID. We respond within 30 days.
- Support email: if you contact support@wiotly.com, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for record keeping.
5. Permissions the App requests
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking product photos, measuring light and scanning barcodes |
| Photos / media (Android 12 and earlier: read storage; Android 13+: the system photo picker, no permission prompt) | Importing an existing photo into a shoot |
| Internet and network state | Verifying store connections and publishing listings |
| Vibrate | Haptic feedback on capture |
The App does not request location, microphone, contacts, phone, SMS, physical-activity or notification permissions.
6. Security
Data stays in the App's private, sandboxed storage, which other apps cannot read. All network connections use HTTPS. Store credentials are never written to logs or sent anywhere except the store they belong to. Release builds trust only the operating system's certificate authorities. Because credentials live on the device, protecting your phone with a screen lock protects them too.
7. Children
Photoclarus is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
WIOTLY OÜ is established in Estonia, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Because the App keeps your data on your device, you can exercise most rights yourself by viewing, editing or deleting data in the App. For data processed by the WIOTLY Custom / PIM service or held in support correspondence, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Estonia, the Data Protection Inspectorate). To exercise these rights, email support@wiotly.com.
Our legal bases are: performance of the contract with you (providing the App and the integrations you request), our legitimate interest in providing support, and your consent where you choose to connect a store or import a photo.
9. International transfers
Data you publish goes to the store you chose, wherever it is hosted. The WIOTLY Custom / PIM service is hosted in the European Union. Google Play services may process the model download in other countries under Google's own safeguards.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App changes. The effective date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes and on the page where this policy is published. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
